The United Nations changed the name of Turkey from “Turkey” to “Türkiye”
At Turkey’s request, the United Nations changed the spelling and pronunciation of the country’s name in foreign languages from “Turkey” to “Türkiye”.

In an interview with Anatolia, UN spokesman Stefan Dujarric said that they had received a letter from Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoوlu to the organization regarding the renaming of the country as “Türkiye” in foreign languages.
Duyarik also said that the change of spelling and pronunciation of the Turkish name from “Turkey” to “Türkiye” has been in force since the receipt of Cavusoglu’s letter.
“The process we started under the presidency of” RTErdogan “with the aim of increasing the value of our country’s brand is coming to an end,” wrote Mevlüt Çavuşolu on Twitter. In the letter we sent to the Secretary-General of the United Nations today, we register the name of our country in the foreign languages used in this organization as “Turkey”.
